If you’re feeling stuck, not just being at home but in life.
If there are things you’ve always wanted to do but for whatever reason you haven’t gotten down to pursuing them just yet, then in episode we’re going to talk about what it takes to finally start pursuing those long overdue goals of yours.
I’m going to be sharing a technique that I personally use every time I want to start pursuing a goal, be it learning the piano or even learning how to speak Spanish.
So if you want to learn how to get unstuck and start moving toward your goals, then stay tuned.
The idea, the thought even of pursuing something means something in itself.
Ask yourself this question, this feeling that you have about pursuing your goals, this urge where does this even come from and why?
Very often what happens is people get so fixated on how they’re going to pursue their goals that they may not consider the bigger question. Why do you even want to do what you want to do?
Now stay with this curiosity for a moment, acknowledge it. Could it be divine guidance, your higher consciousness trying to move you forward.
When you think about your goals, you only have two options, you can follow that curiosity and pursue your goal or you can give it up. In either cases you are making a choice.
However, if you choose not to pursue your goals then you’re risking two kinds of pain.
And one is more easier to get over.
First one is the pain of so called failure. Now this kind of pain is not really long lasting because there aren’t any failures in life if you’re learning.
The second, the pain of regret is far more profound because you know that feeling of ‘I wish I had done this’ or ‘I wish I has said this’ that feeling just sucks!
I personally believe that I’d rather pursue something and fail at it rather than have that sense of ‘I wish I had done that’ or ‘I wish I had said that’.
Have you looked at our YouTube channel, every week we barely get views on these episodes but I honestly believe that I’d rather be creating content which I know will help those who need it as opposed to have that sense of deep regret that I should’ve created when I could.
So in order to not have this pain of regret you should just go ahead and pursue that goal, no? I know it is easier said than done which is why let’s jump into the technique I told you I was going to tell you about. The technique that I personally use to pursue my goals.
You’re going to need a pen and a paper for this.
So this technique has two parts.
First part, is what I like to call the 5 year question and the second part requires you to write down couple of things. So let’s do this together.
So the first part is called the 5-year question. Now I really want you to tune in and ask yourself in 5 years, fast forward and see that in 5 years do you regret yourself not pursuing this goal? Because if there’s a small chance that you may end up regretting it then you might as well pursue it.
But if you see yourself being okay and not really missing out on this goal then that’s okay too. Not every goal is critical.
So by doing this 5 year question you’ll know if the goal that you’re trying to pursue is important.
And now, you can move to the second part of the technique.
If you’re ready, let’s get into the exercise.
Step 1 You’re going to list down all the absolute worst things that can happen if you start to pursue this goal. You’re going to do a brain dump of all the fears that you have. Put down the worst case scenario on your piece of paper.
Step 2 is once you put down the worst case scenario on paper, it’s time to look at each one of them and think about just one thing you can do to not make it so drastic.
For example, if you’ve written down I may loose money, next to it you can write something like you can always find ways to earn money. Or if you’ve written I may loose my job you can always find another job. You get the idea.
And that’s it, that’s the exercise.
After doing this exercise you’re going to realise that everything that you’ve put down on the piece of paper the absolute worst case scenario is nothing but more than the a figment of your brilliant imagination. There’s a high probability that everything that you’ve imagined the worst case scenario may never happen. How do I know this?
Because that goal that you want to pursue for yourself someone has already pursued that before and if they can do it so can you.
So to wrap up this episode, I hope you’ll think about that goal that you’ve been putting off for so long and you’ll ask yourself whether it really matters. And if it does then go ahead and do the worst-case scenario exercise and put all those excuses on the back burner and start to pursue your goals right now, like today!
