Do you catch yourself thinking and wishing you had a different life? What if you only had that thing that would make you happier. Or what if your life was like that person’s, you would definitely be able to reach your goals then. Right?
Today, I want to discuss with you how you can change your life!
I’ll share a secret with you. For the large part of my twenties I felt that even though I was reading, and even coaching others to concentrate on making changes to get results in life, Inside I felt really different at times.
I remember thinking only if I had that person’s client base then I would surely be able to impact more lives. I allowed myself to feel like that for a really long time. The result, didn’t help with either my work or how I felt. The lesson, however was I acknowledged how I felt and applied the logic that in order for me to feel differently and get different results I had to be willing to do things differently. That was literally an Aha! moment for me.
Think about it once you realise you want to achieve something you have to look at your actions. What are you doing consistently to reach your goals? We are often scared to really look at the things we are doing because then we will know what we aren’t doing. It’s a mirror we don’t want to look at.
Instead of looking at someone else’s results what if you looked at your actions?
Think about that. You know deep down what you should be doing to get the results you want. But the challenge really is that we don’t want to identify with what we want to achieve. What do I mean?
Let’s say you want to be more healthy. You know intellectually eating right and exercising are the only ways that you can become more healthy. But do you have an image of what you’ll look like, feel like and even experience if you were healthy throughout your life and not just for a brief period when you’re on a so called diet? Instead, very easily all the difficulties that come with being healthy pops up in your mind.
This happens mainly because being healthy isn’t a lifestyle for you. Just like you have a group of friends you hang out with, place you shop at, eat out they are all your lifestyle choices. Choices you make for yourself.
Similarly, if it’s important for you to reach your goals, you’ll have to make it a lifestyle choice. Think about that. When eating healthy becomes a habit then becoming healthy won’t feel excruciatingly painful. The same is true for any other goal. If you make it a life style choice for you to pursue your goals, then your actions will not be so painful.
I invite you to make one small change in your life to move you toward what you want to achieve. If it’s loosing weight stop stocking the fridge with junk food and delete the food apps. If you want to learn a new skill sign up for a class.
Pursuing your goals is a lifestyle choice and not something you do for a short period of time.
In the end, I want to quote the famous words of Aristotle ” We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.”
